Russian Army is looking for new sniper rifle - a successor for SVD rifle

Russian Army is looking for new sniper rifle - a successor for SVD rifle. New semi automatic rifle will be in two caliber - 7,62×51 (.308 Win.) and 8,6×70 (.338 Lapua Magnum).

In program, under designation OKR "Ugolyok" (Ember, small piece of coal, in russian «Уголёк»),  participate follow companies:

• JSC Kalashnikov Concern (Rifles will based on SVCh)

• TsNIITochMash (planning to participate with two diferent rifle)

• TsKIB SOO (Rifles will based on OTs-129)
