Field Trials of the Ukrainian "Camel "Unmanned Ground Vehicles

The Ukrainian State Scientific Research Institute of Armament and Military Equipment Testing and Certification (ДНДІ ВС ОВТ) conducted a practical part of the experimental tests of the remote-controlled platform "Camel".

The Ukrainian Army has begun evaluating the new Camel tactical unmanned ground vehicle with a remote weapon station.

The Camel is an Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) assisting dismounted troops with equipment transport and developed by the Ukrainian company Global Dynamics. The new UGV has a modular architecture and full compliance with the Army’s interoperability protocols makes the vehicle easy to upgrade, using a wide variety of missions kits, and keeps life cycle costs low.

Operation of the platform is easy, each wheel has its own electric engine with epitrochoid harmonic drive to ensure robust torque transmission to ensure steady footing in rough terrain and on steep slopes.

The remote control is enabled via secure radio control channel with a backup fiber-optic line. Each Camel radio system extends the reach of network coverage and allows connection of additional MESH nodes. Modular layered armor allows quick replacement of damaged parts.

Shiny new BAE Tempest CGI released by the RAF

This picture followed by the news that ‘Team Tempest’ have strengthened  relationships across UK industry.

Tempest is the next-generation combat aircraft, operating at the cutting edge of technological innovation and securing the UK's position as a global leader in combat air.

Team Tempest is made up of a group of industry partners: BAE Systems, Rolls Royce, Leonardo and MBDA. They are working together with the RAF's Rapid Capabilities Office and the UK Ministry of Defence.

Team Tempest strengthens relationship across UK industry

More than 70 key industry and Government representatives from across Northern Ireland have engaged with Team Tempest and the Royal Air Force on opportunities to help develop the UK’s next generation of combat air technologies.

The RAF Rapid Capabilities Office and core Team Tempest Industry Partners (BAE Systems, Rolls Royce, Leonardo and MBDA) hosted a virtual briefing session to provide a detailed understanding of the work ongoing across the Tempest endeavour and the wider UK Combat Air Sector. Participation at the event also included Tempest partners Thales and Spirit AeroSystems, both who have major bases in Northern Ireland.

Delegates heard from Air Chief Marshal Sir Michael Wigston and other RAF senior leaders who highlighted how Team Tempest is taking a revolutionary approach to partnership, engaging with a wide range of leading companies, SMEs and academia to bring leading innovators into the endeavour and ensure the UK remains at the leading edge of Combat Air systems development. The RAF Capability leadership team highlighted updates in emerging strategy and identified examples of innovation and future opportunities.

Key members from the Team Tempest industry partner community also provided attendees with updates on the programme and explained how Tempest is working in radical ways to develop world-leading capability, with a focus on affordability and efficiency.

Earlier this year, Team Tempest announced a further seven companies have signed collaborative agreements to work on some of the game-changing technologies being developed across the partnership. The agreements demonstrated how Team Tempest is transforming traditional relationships with partners and widening the endeavour to bring in the very best of UK capability and expertise from both inside and outside of defence. There are currently more than 600 organisations delivering across Tempest, including SMEs and academia.

The Team Tempest programme plans to continue engaging across the UK, commencing with this event in Northern Ireland, building relationships across the nation which aim to deliver national economic prosperity benefits and contribute to national productivity, providing follow on benefits for wider Defence and other sectors in the UK economy.

The event was coordinated with the assistance of the aerospace, defence, security and space trade body ADS.

Losses of Azerbaijan Army in Karabakh conflict

Information of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan

In response to the military aggression of Armenia against our country, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on September 27, 2020, started the Patriotic War in order to liberate our lands from occupation.

The military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, fighting heroically and bravely in the Patriotic War, inflicted crushing blows on the armed forces of Armenia, destroyed complex engineering construction and bunkers built by Armenia on our occupied lands for many years, and, breaking through the echeloned and densely mined defensive lines, liberated our lands from occupation.

Despite the fact that the Armenian armed forces possessed the most of the strategic high grounds, advantageous combat positions, our valiant and fearless soldiers and officers fighting under the fire strikes of artillery, numerous multiple launch rocket systems, and mortar pieces, as well as in difficult geographical, relief and climatic conditions, managed to defeat Armenia.

The liberation of Shusha city, the crown of Karabakh, is one of the unique military operations in world military history.

Our lands, which we dreamed of for almost 30 years, were liberated from occupation at the cost of the blood and lives of our Shehids (martyrs). Highly professional development of combat operations plans, the use of high technologies, effective interoperability of various types of troops, absolute air superiority, maneuverability, and other tactical and strategic advantages of our army have significantly reduced our losses in military personnel. But there is no war without losses.

During the Patriotic War, 2,783 servicemen of our Armed Forces died in combat. Work is underway to identify 103 servicemen among them using DNA analysis. More than 100 of our servicemen are considered as missing. Necessary activities are being taken to find them and inform their families. Currently, 1,245 servicemen are being treated in medical institutions.

Detailed information on the names of the dead servicemen, their date of birth, military rank, and combat path will be additionally presented to the country's public. The Commission, consisting of employees of the relevant government agencies, is working in this sphere.

May Allah rest the souls of all our Shehids!

We bow our heads in front of our Shehids!

Northrop Grumman Completes Successful Testing on Solid Fuel Ramjet Concept

Projectile concept shows potential to extend munition range to more than 100km.

BALTIMORE – Nov. 30, 2020 – Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) successfully completed multiple rounds of tests on its Solid Fuel Ramjet (SFRJ) tactical engine configuration – a technology to enable long range precision fires, one of the U.S. Army’s key priorities.

Conducted as part of phase one of the U.S. Army’s XM1155 Extended-Range Artillery Projectile (ERAP) program, the SFRJ tests validated gun-launched survivability and performance predictions, and demonstrated the potential of extending projectile range to more than 100 kilometers, which is a significant increase compared to current fielded artillery projectiles.

The XM1155 ERAP program will provide an extended range, guided 155mm artillery round capable of defeating moving and stationary targets in all terrain and weather conditions. The munition system is being designed to provide multi-domain battlespace dominance against high level targets.

“Successful completion of the rigorous tests of the Solid Fuel Ramjet demonstrates maturation of the technology to survive the very challenging gun-launch environment and significantly extend the range of the U.S. military’s current field artillery with a high level of confidence,” said Pat Nolan, vice president, missile products, Northrop Grumman.

Work under the contract will be completed at the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory in Rocket Center, West Virginia, Ronkonkoma, New York; Plymouth, Minnesota; and in partnership with SPARC Research based out of Warrenton, Virginia.

Northrop Grumman solves the toughest problems in space, aeronautics, defense and cyberspace to meet the ever evolving needs of our customers worldwide. Our 90,000 employees define possible every day using science, technology and engineering to create and deliver advanced systems, products and services.
