Elbit Systems introduced the Iron Vision transparent armour system on the M2A2 Bradley IFV

Elbit Systems introduced the cutting edge Iron Vision transparent armour system in the AUSA-2020. The system is installed on US Army M2A2 Bradley IFV.

IronVision™ is the near eye display system for ground combat vehicles, providing situational awareness for crews inside armored vehicles. This low-latency technology allows soldiers to see through the armor of vehicles smoothly, and fight with closed hatches. IronVision provides 360-degree situational awareness that increases survivability and effectiveness of the vehicle. IronVision™ also allows integration with fire control system of the vehicle, which significantly increases vehicle lethality.

The system previously was demonstrated on the Elbit Systems innovative Armored Fighting Vehicle (AFV), as part of the CARMEL Future Combat Vehicle project of the Israeli Ministry of Defense.

Rudram-1 NGARM test

Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-fires Rudram-1 NGARM New Generation Anti-Radiation Missile nation's first indigenous anti-radiation missile from a Sukhoi-30 fighter aircraft at Balasore in Odisha on Friday.

The New Generation Anti-Radiation Missile (Rudram-1) developed by DRDO India was tested successfully at ITR, Balasore. The Missile with an SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defence) role is meant to target enemy surveillance and fire control radars.

''Rudram'' is a potent weapon for the IAF for suppressing enemy air defence effectively from large standoff ranges. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO and other stakeholders for the test’s success.

An official statement was released saying ''Rudram'' is India's first indigenous Anti-Radiation missile for Indian Air Force which is being developed by DRDO. The missile is integrated on SU-30 MkI fighter aircraft as the launch platform with a capacity of different ranges based on launch conditions.

''The RUDRAM hit the radiation target with pinpoint accuracy. The Passive Homing Head can detect, classify and engage targets over a wide band of frequencies as programmed," the statement read.

The statement further said that ''Rudram'' is a potent weapon for the IAF for suppressing enemy air defence effectively from large standoff ranges. With this particular missile, the country has established indigenous capability to develop long-range air-launched anti-radiation missiles for neutralizing enemy radars, communication sites, and other RF emitting targets.

Turkish army modernizing ACV-15 IFV with new weapon systems

According to the official sources, 133 vehicles to be revamped in the 1st phase with modern weapon and defense systems.

The Turkish Armed Forces are modernizing their armored vehicles with new weapon systems and high-tech mission equipment, Anadolu Agency has learnt.

The prototype of the modernizing project, which is being undertaken by the Presidency of Defense Industries, a civil institution to strengthen Turkey's national security industry and manage the system and supply of military technology, has been completed.

The 900 million lira ($113.1 million) project began in the end of 2019 with the cooperation of Turkish defense companies Aselsan and FNNS, according to Ismail Demir, the head of the presidency.

As many as 133 vehicles will be modernized in the first phase, he said, adding that they will be equipped with remote control Nefer weapon, laser warning, close-range surveillance, driver vision, direction and navigation systems.

The vehicles, Demir said, will also have climate, heating, dire extinction and explosion damping systems, thus strengthening their armor and mine protection levels.

"The durability of the vehicles will significantly increase, and their service life will extend," he said.

The ACV-15 is an amphibious tracked armored combat vehicle family developed by the Turkish defense company FNSS Savunma Sistemleri. The vehicle was developed to meet the Turkish Land Forces Command's operational requirement.

A total of 2,280 ACV-15s are in service with the Turkish army including 650 AFV (Armored Fighting Vehicle), 1,400 Armored Personnel Carrier, 50 ATV (Armored Tow Vehicle), and 180 AMV (Armored Mortar Vehicle). The vehicle is also in service with the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia.

The ACV-15 Armored Fighting Vehicle in service with the Turkish army is armed with a one-man turret armed with one 25mm dual-feed automatic cannon and one 7.62mm coaxial machine gun.

The goal of this program is to modernize the ACV-15 by upgrading the protection of the vehicle and integrate news features like enhanced mine resistance, air conditioning, fire extinguishing, Auxiliary Power Unit, and more.

The new vehicle will also be fitted with a new NEFER unmanned Remote Weapon Station designed and manufactured by ASELSAN which is armed with one 25mm automatic cannon and a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun. The vehicle is equiped with Laser Warning System, Close Range Surveillance System, Driver’s Vision System, and the Direction Finding and Navigation System. The Aselsan Nefer turret is fully stabilized with shoot-on-the-move capability for stationary and moving targets with gyro-aided stabilization. The turret has a traverse of 360° and elevation from -10° to +60°.

US Army release the first image of perspective hypersonic launch vehicle (DARPA OpFires project)

DARPA OpFire (Operational Fires) is Ground-launched hypersonic missile that can dispense various hypersonic and conventional payloads

The goal of the Operational Fires (OpFires) program is to develop and demonstrate a novel ground-launched system enabling hypersonic boost glide weapons to penetrate modern enemy air defenses and rapidly and precisely engage critical time sensitive targets.

OpFires seeks to develop an advanced booster capable of delivering a variety of payloads at a variety of ranges. Additional considerations include the need for compatible mobile ground launch platforms enabling integration with existing ground forces and infrastructure, and specific system attributes required for rapid deployment and redeployment. The OpFires program will conduct a series of subsystem tests designed to evaluate component design and system compatibility, and culminate in integrated end-to-end flight tests.

Operational Fires (OpFires). The Army and DARPA’s mutual program that is likely to be in the same position to the LRHW as the TBG is to the ARRW: this is a simplified demonstrator (probably with smaller dimensions, in this case) of technology for refining ground system and glider solutions.

The main contractor of the third program stage that is underway at the moment, as part of which flight testing is planned in 2022, is Lockheed Martin. The two previous phases concentrated on the development and ground testing of compact solid missile engines and included such participants as Aerojet Rocketdyne, Dynetics, Exquadrum and Sierra Nevada.
