The Pantsir-S1 missile system is a self-propelled, medium-range surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery systems. The Pantsir-S1 (NATO reporting name SA-22 Greyhound) it is produced by KBP Instrument Design Bureau of Tula, Russia.

F-35 landing gear collapses after landing at Hill

The landing gear of an F-35 fighter collapsed after landing at Hill Air Force Base in Utah Monday, the base said in a statement.

The F-35, assigned to the 388th Fighter Wing, had just finished what the base described as a routine training flight. The pilot left the aircraft and is having a routine medical evaluation, the base said.

Hill’s runway is now closed as a result of the landing gear collapse, and other Hill aircraft that were still in the air at the time have been diverted to other airports.

Other training flights are now paused until the runway reopens, Hill said. A safety review board will investigate the incident, Hill said.

It marks the second F-35 mishap in roughly a month's time (re: crash at Eglin AFB, Florida). 

Eglin F-22 crashes; pilot safely ejects

An F-22 Raptor from Eglin Air Force Base in Florida crashed Friday morning on the base’s test and training range, but its pilot is safe and in stable condition.

The pilot of the F-22 safely ejected, and was taken to the 96th Medical Group hospital at the base for evaluation and observation, Eglin said in a release. The pilot is in stable condition, but was not identified by Eglin.

The jet was from the 43rd Fighter Squadron, part of Eglin’s 325th Fighter Wing. The range where it crashed is about 12 miles northeast of Eglin’s main base.

The pilot was flying a routine training flight with the 33rd Fighter Wing when it crashed at 9:15 a.m., Eglin said in the release. First responders from the 96th Test Wing arrived at the scene, and an investigation is under way.

Eglin said there was no one else on board, and there was no loss of life or damage to civilian property.

This F-22 was not part of a formation flight that also took off from Eglin Friday morning, the base said. That formation flight included another F-22, an F-35 and a T-38, and flew over Dade County and Panama City.

IAF’s new Apache helicopter makes emergency landing in Punjab

An Apache helicopter of the Indian Air Force made an emergency landing in a Hoshiyarpur village after developing a technical fault. There was no loss of life or property.

An Apache helicopter of the Indian Air Force (IAF) made an emergency landing in Hoshiarpur, Punjab on Friday afternoon.

The newly inducted IAF helicopter took off from the Pathankot air base, but the pilot had to make an emergency landing in a field in Hoshiarpur after it developed a technical snag, officials said.

"The chopper made a precautionary landing after warning alert in its control panels," the Indian Air Force said in its statement.

The crew is safe and no major damage has been reported. "The attack choppers are based out of the Pathankot airbase and this chopper had taken off from there. The Air Force will check the helicopter and then take it back to its base. The pilots are safe," the Air Force said.

The US-made Apache AH-64E attack helicopters were inducted into the Indian Air Force last year. The AH-64E Apache is one of the world's most advanced multi-role combat helicopters.

22 Apaches were ordered by India for the IAF in a $1.1 billion deal, the first of which were delivered in September, last year.
